We are enjoying having Liesl (Leslie) as a part of our family. We took a photo today just before Chad left for work. Unfortunately, Leisl and Burke were not very cooperative, but we did the best we could. Leisl has adapted to farm life quite well. She loves it when we go out to feed the goats and horses. She and Burke love to romp through the pasture and they love to chase quail and buzzards. Speaking personally for our family, we are so pleased with Leisl. She has the best disposition and is so even-tempered. I really think that the Lord chose her for us and guided each step of the process. I know that as we filled out the application, we almost gave up a couple of times, but the Lord worked out each problem and made it possible for Leisl to join our family. Again, thank you!

I'm Jim King, ... my wife Peggy and I this past June, adopted Joan who had been fostered in Wichita Falls. We now call her "Birdie" as we do live on a golf course and, after all, she is a bird dog!! Birdie has adapted extremely well having blended into her new lifestyle here in East Texas. We really do watch in wonderment as she reacts to anything new in her life...like walking up and down stairs or learning to play with toys. Birdie has made dozens of new friends here including some neighborhood dogs and our house cat Lucy...I've never had a dog quite so friendly. Her favorite things to do are taking walks, riding in our golf cart and greeting the golfers from our upper deck as they pass by. I have tried to teach her to stay on our property, but alas, the distractions are far too many and she is much too active a dog to stay in the yard. I have now had an underground fence installed and she has just finished her first week of formal training... with good results so far. I fully anticipate that in a few more weeks, we'll be able to let her out by herself to do her business and run around the yard. Just in time before the cold weather sets in. I can only guess what Birdie's life had been like in South Dakota, but she is very happy now as are we to have her in our lives...It's true what they say about rescued dogs showing their loyalty to their rescuers. She is eager to please and quick to learn .... Now that's what I call a great dog!

![]() Here is Andie, aka Andie Girl. She has gained a new sister and a brother. Having her in our family has been an adventure thus far and it keeps getting better everyday. From the moment we got in the truck to come home from Foster Mom Maggie’s, she showed us she was boss. She jumped right in the truck into the front seat and that is where she rode on the way home and subsequently every time she goes for a ride now. She no longer shakes when we enter the same room as her, and she even comes to check on us if we don’t come to her first. Andie loves having squirrels to chase in the backyard, and has even caught a few. We love that she was brought into our lives and look forward to the adventures that await us in the future with Andie. |
