We are so happy with Hera (we renamed Sorrel) and she is doing OK. She is very comfortable here in the house and she's very happy. After about a week, she was fully adapted to her new life, running and having a blast chasing things at the dog park. She's turned into a lap dog, and she likes to sleep up high (on top of her crate). We've put 2.5 lbs of muscle on her. She's a very smart dog -- she learns quickly, it didn't take long for her to get the routine here in the house. And she's done great with house training -- no accidents at all.

The only real problem we've had is that she broke a bone in her foot last Saturday. She was running at the dog park at full speed -- which is really saying something -- and a squirrel dropped out of a tree on her right hand side. She cut hard right and cracked a bone in her left foot. The good news is that our vet said that we don't have to have surgery to reinforce the bone. The bad news is that it will take 6 - 8 weeks for her to heal, and she has to be in a splint the whole time. The hard part is keeping her quiet and the splint in place -- she doesn't seem to mind running on it. Over the past week the vet has had to re-splint it three times. But we will manage.
